Q & A With Murray From The Wiggles

What can you tell us about your upcoming concert tour?  I’m sure all our little readers would love to know what you have in store for them during The Wiggles “Big Birthday” celebration.

The Wiggles! “Big Birthday” Tour is going to be jam-packed with celebrations! You'll be able to sing a-long to all your favorite Wiggles songs. The show will definitely have a party flavor!

Are all of your Wiggly pals excited to be celebrating the Big 2-0 with their adoring fans?

We never expected to still be doing this after 20 years but we're enjoying it so much! It's amazing that some of our earliest fans are now parents themselves and bringing their own children along to shows!

Tell us how you plan to get the "Wiggly Party" started?

The Wiggles 20th Birthday started in Australia in January with a huge concert in our nation's capital, Canberra in front of 30,000 fans. We were so lucky to be joined by Al Roker from the NBC TODAY show who sang Fruit Salad with us! The birthday celebrations will continue until the end of our tour schedule in December.

What sets this tour apart from your previous acts?

There will be lots of birthday surprises but, due to popular demand, we'll be singing all your favorite Wiggles songs as well.

With all the great songs you sing to get little feet dancing like “Hot Potato”, “Fruit Salad”, and “Shimmy Shake”, which one is your favorite tune to wiggle around to?

My favorite is "Play Your Guitar With Murray" of course!

You tour so much, going to great places like the US and Britain, what do you like to do most when you get home?

I love spending time with my family. It's nice to be able to go along and watch my children play sport on a Saturday. I enjoy watching live music and spending time at my holiday house at the beach.

It is no secret that your favorite instrument is the guitar. When did you first learn to play?  And what do you like most about it?

I started playing guitar at 11!

What advice do you have for aspiring singers/musicians that are just getting started?

Believe in yourself. If music is what you really want to do, be passionate about it and follow your dreams.

Rumor has it that there will be a 5th Wiggle joining you on stage every night of the tour.  What can you tell us about this exciting opportunity for these lucky winners?

It is essentially a contest whereby one person in every city will have the opportunity to sing 'Fruit Salad' on stage with The Wiggles as the fifth Wiggle during the North American tour!

The contest will be run through our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/thewiggles) and parents can submit auditions of themselves singing 'Fruit Salad'.  We will then select one person per city to perform live in their home city. The contest will be up and running soon.

FAVE THINGS:

Colour (we think we know this one): RED

Pastime:  Playing the guitar and watching live music

Food: I enjoy all types of food as long as it's fresh!

Holiday destination: My home town - Sydney - it's such a picturesque city with great weather all year round

Favorite Tour City: I love New York - it has such an amazing vibrancy!

Instrument: Anything with strings

Song: I love rock and pop music

Movie: I like comedies, not really into destruction or horror movies

A wicked birthday party under $130!

I needed to come up with a GREAT birthday party for my little girl and six of her friends this past weekend.

I didn't have any themes in mind, only that I did not want to spend as much money as I did the year before (I'm trying to sock away every penny into her RESP savings account).

So this is how I pulled off an awesome birthday party for 7 kids and three parents for under $130.

5 extra large bouncy castles for the kids to go nuts on (2 hrs)

Spray Lakes Family Sports Center

$5/child X 7= $35 (no gst)

A private party room rental for 1 hour

Juice Plus+ Review

I recently came across Juice Plus+ soft chewables and couldn't be happier that I did. I won't go into all the science behind this product but I will tell you this, for a supplement, these chewables are tasty! My pre schooler always asks me for more and I love to snack on them when I'm feeling low on energy or that I'm fighting something off.

Of course I still take my vitamin D, and a few others but I like knowing that Juice Plus fills in the gaps. They do have shakes too but I haven't tried those yet.

What I learned from my 4 year old today

Turns out I didn't have to wait long to discover just how little I know about everything.

These are this weeks lessons from my four year old.

Butterflies in you stomach is when you are looking at a lot of butterflies and you get sick of looking at them, your stomach feels like it is flying.

I look better with makeup on. (You've got to love their honesty)

Kids who eat a lot of fish can breath under water.

Kids who have a lot of 'lines' on their neck can breath under water just like fish can.

Humans can smell and hear and see under water (even when swimming with their eyes closed)! Who knew?

God made the sky to hold the moon and the stars.

Even though Grandma is older than me, I'm going to die first so that my four year old can sleep in grandma's bed every night.

I need to stop at red lights and go on green lights, and no I didn't do it right.

Apparently, I never know which direction to drive and always take the wrong road.

From now on kids make up the rules because adults suck and don't make up fun rules.

I can be standing across the room but if my daughter falls and hurts herself I need to say sorry because I made her do it just because I was angry at her.

I wash her hair extra hard and with my nails because I'm mad at her and want to punish her.

She will dress her self thank you very much because I don't know what matches and what doesn't. And it's perfectly alright to wear summer dresses and fancy shoes when its snowing outside because she wants everyone to think she is pretty.

The kids in school are mean because no one noticed her pretty new dress, new hair cut, shoes, snack...

She is the 'Queen Be'e in the school and every day three lucky classmates get chosen to be 'bee helpers'. A bee helper's job is to do ANYTHING the queen bee asks of you and to do it promptly or else you are 'fired!' from this position and someone else gets to be bee helper.

Apparently I need to rent a party boat because I have my daughter's entire class coming over for a boat party (in BC) to celebrate my daughter's greatness in the form of a dress up party. Gifts are a must from everyone attending accept from me because I'm an adult and I'm not invited. WTF?

I should be please that I get to pay and organize this lovely event!

And if I don't give her this party right now I get a time out. One, Two,.....

Please God, tell me it gets better! I need to hear that it gets better....

Dare Real Fruit Minis

I try my hardest to only purchase healthy snacks and treats for my pre-schooler.

And while I do shop organic from time to time, I find it inconvenient and just plain expensive. That's why I was happy to discover RealFruit minis at my local Safeway. These fruit snacks have no artificial colour or flavour and are peanut free so my daughter can take them to pre-school with her. Another healthy, peanut free snack that my daughter enjoys and I can feel good about buying.

Its only a matter of time before food manufacturers get the point and start omitting harmful fillers that we don't need in our food.
